Sony Pictures Animation Announces ‘GOAT’ For 2026
Sony Pictures Animation announced today a new animated feature, GOAT.
Here is everything we currently know about the original sports comedy, which is set to release theatrically on February 13, 2026:
- In collaboration with the NBA, the release of the film is timed with the NBA’s 2026 All-Star weekend.
- Tyree Dillihay, Emmy-nominated director of Bob’s Burgers, will direct. He has also directed other animated series like Da Jammies (Netflix), Allen Gregory (Fox), and Good Vibes (MTV). Adam Rosette (head of story, Orion and the Dark) will co-direct. Aaron Buchsbaum and Teddy Riley (Fairfax) are writing the screenplay.
- GOAT is produced by Stephen Curry and Erick Peyton of Unanimous Media, Michelle Raimo Kouyate, and Modern Magic’s Adam Rosenberg and Rodney Rothman (director, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse). David Schulenburg is co-producing. Rick Mischel and Fonda Snyder will serve as executive producers.
- Director Tyree Dillihay said in a statement: “As a lifelong fan of animation and sports, GOAT is my dream project. We’ve got a modern take on a classic story in a rich new world where amazing happens. I couldn’t ask for a better team of collaborators to help bring this experiential event to life.”
- No details are available on the story. But Curry and Peyton said in a statement that they hope the film “will resonate with families and sports fans alike,” and that they “look forward to uplifting audiences with diverse characters and heartwarming storylines that will have you rooting for the underdog.”
- Sony Pictures Imageworks is handling the animation production.
