‘Big Hero 6’ And ‘Raya And The Last Dragon’ Director Don Hall Moves To Skydance Animation

Skydance Animation has closed a deal with veteran Disney director Don Hall to join the company’s growing ranks of creative talent.

Hall will create, develop, and produce an original animated feature for the studio. No further details about the project are being offered at this time.

At Disney, Hall directed four features  – Winnie the Pooh, Big Hero 6, Raya and the Last Dragon, and Strange World. Other key credits include co-director on Moana and head of story on Meet the Robinsons and The Princess and the Frog.

While Skydance Animation has only released one feature to date – Luck (2022) – the John Lasseter-led company has experienced great success recruiting top-tier talent to join the company. The announced directors of upcoming Skydance films are Vicky Jenson (Spellbound), Nathan Greno (Pookoo), Brad Bird (Ray Gunn), and Rich Moore (untitled Jack and the Beanstalk project).

The studio’s next feature, Spellbound, will release on Netflix later this year, while its first animated series, WondLa, debuts on Apple TV+ in a few weeks.
