After Playing In 200 Festivals, ‘Luce And The Rock’ Has Debuted Online
The internationally acclaimed children’s short Luce and the Rock (2022) has launched online. Every kid – young and old – will want to see it.
Young Luce lives a simple, cozy life in a small village with her family and neighbors. That peaceful existence is suddenly disrupted by the arrival of a giant boulder that demolishes all the village homes. An irate Luce decides to confront the boulder and give him a few choice words.
This beautifully designed fable, dominated by sea blue, red, and yellow hues, is a story about compassion, friends, and overcoming misguided fears. In an era where people are often too swift to judge and condemn others, Luce and the Rock is an earnest call for exchange and empathy. It reminds us that we’re all human and sometimes need to step outside our comfort zones and see things from others’ perspectives to truly understand who they are.
Luce and the Rock, which has played in over 200 festivals and won over 40 awards, is the Belgian-born animator’s second professional film following her award-winning debut, Catherine (2016). Raes is currently developing multiple projects, including a series, a special, and a children’s book.
Luce and the Rock was produced by Thuristar in co-production with La Cabane, Studio Pupil, VRT-Ketnet and RTBF, with the participation of France Télévisions.
