Netflix Launches New ‘Digital Theme Park’ On Roblox
Netflix has opened up early access to Nextworld, its new 3d interactive space on Roblox.
The move to launch a dedicated space on the gaming platform makes a lot of sense when one considers this recent study that found children between the ages of 4 and 18 spend nearly three times as much time on Roblox than they do on watching Netflix.
Nextworld is billed as a “central hub in the Netflix universe,” and allows a deeper dive into existing films and series on Netflix. Here’s a more colorful description from the streamer:
Think: A digital theme park full of characters, easter eggs, and games. Immersive games like Stranger Things: Escape from Hawkins High, One Piece: East Blue Brawls, and Rebel Moon: Outskirts Battles will connect you with your favorite characters in a whole new way. While you’re there, say hi to Dustin from Stranger Things, Luffy from One Piece, and Jimmy from Rebel Moon, who’ll serve as guardians of their respective worlds. Some of them might even guide you through your quests — and you never know who else you might encounter.
The interactive (i.e. animated) space allows users to collect objects and wearables to decorate their “fan pod.” Other social features include mini-games and the chance to attend events like premieres and viewing parties.
Netflix will hold its first Nextworld exclusive premiere when it launches Jurassic World: Chaos Theory on May 17, a week ahead of its debut on the Netflix streaming platform. Prior to launching this platform, Netflix had experimented with advance Roblox screenings of other shows like Unicorn Academy and Sonic Prime.
The Nextworld early access launch is available on all consoles that support Roblox, mobile, and PC/Macs.
